Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 2026

At Deepika Book Agency ("we", "us", "our"), we respect your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our website, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. By using our website, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to provide our books, eBooks and services:

  • Account details: your name, email address, phone number and password when you register.
  • Order details: billing and shipping addresses, the books you order, and your order and payment history.
  • Form submissions: details you enter in our Request a Demo, Publish With Us, Request Evaluation Copy, Feedback, Contact and Quick Enquiry forms, such as your name, institution, designation, address, email and phone number.
  • Phone verification: when a form asks you to verify your phone number, we send a one-time password (OTP) to that number and record that it was verified.
  • Technical information: your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, which we use for security, to prevent spam and misuse of our forms, and to keep the website working properly.

2. Payments

Online payments are processed securely by our payment partner, Razorpay. Your card, UPI or net-banking details are entered on and handled by Razorpay; we do not see or store your full card details. We receive only confirmation of the payment and the information needed to complete your order.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account, and to process, ship and support your orders.
  • To provide access to the eBooks and digital resources you purchase.
  • To respond to your demo requests, publication proposals, evaluation copy requests, feedback and enquiries.
  • To send order updates and, if you subscribe to our newsletter, news about new books and offers. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • To keep our website secure, prevent fraud and misuse, and improve our services.
  • To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

4. Cookies

We use cookies, small files stored in your browser, in three categories:

  • Essential: needed for login, your cart, checkout, currency selection and security. These are always on, because the website cannot work properly without them.
  • Analytics: help us understand how visitors use the website so we can improve it. Used only if you allow them.
  • Marketing: used to show you relevant books and offers on other websites. Used only if you allow them.

When you first visit, we ask for your choice. You can change it at any time using the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the website may then not work.

5. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only when needed:

  • With courier and logistics partners, to deliver your orders.
  • With our payment partner (Razorpay), to process payments.
  • With service providers who help us run the website, such as hosting, SMS and email services, who may use it only to provide those services to us.
  • When required by law, a court order or a government authority, or to protect our rights and the safety of our users.

6. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections, password protection, verification codes and restricted access to our systems. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

We keep your information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, such as while your account is active, to complete and support your orders, and to meet legal, tax and accounting requirements. After that, we delete or anonymise it.

8. Your Rights

In line with applicable Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may:

  • Ask for a summary of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct, update or complete your information.
  • Ask us to delete your information, where we are not required to keep it by law.
  • Withdraw consent you have given, such as for cookies or newsletters, at any time.
  • Raise a concern about how we handle your information.

To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before acting on it.

9. Children's Privacy

Our website is intended for users who are at least 18 years old, or younger users acting under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without such consent. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Links to Other Websites

Our website may contain links to other websites, such as social media pages. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites, so please read their privacy policies.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page with its "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the website after changes means you accept the updated policy.
